How SnapEngage works
SnapEngage is powered by a Javascript library that needs to be loaded on any pages where you want to chat with visitors. You can control where the chat window pops up from inside the SnapEngage application. If you want to record SnapEngage activity in your analytics tool or data warehouse, custom code is required. That code will need to hook into the SnapEngage on-page Javascript events or pull the raw data from the export API.
Get more out of SnapEngage with Segment
Segment will load the SnapEngage Javascript library in the background so you don’t have to add the snippet to your site, saving you time and improving web performance. The email address in identify
calls will be passed through to SnapEngage without any additional coding required on your part. SnapEngage doesn’t accept custom user traits or events so only email is sent. The integration will also collect a standard set of live chat events (Live Chat Started/Ended and Message Sent/Received) as they happen and send them back through Segment to be delivered to all your Segment integrations and warehouses, another benefit of installing SnapEngage via Segment instead of natively.
