How Kochava works
Kochava is powered by a few key pieces of data that it needs to collect from your mobile app users. That means you’ll need to bundle and configure Kochava’s mobile SDKs in each of your apps on all relevant platforms. There are two key features you’ll need to be familiar with when configuring the Kochava SDK: Tracker and Events. Tracker handles all the attribution information, while Events records what users are doing, for consumption in your analytics dashboards. Both features usually require some custom coding to get up and running. Setting up the Events hooks is typically the most time-consuming process, since you need to install a unique hook for each and every event that you want to record.
Get more out of Kochava with Segment
Segment makes your Kochava implementation simple. The Segment Kochava integration doesn’t require any custom code or bundled SDKs. Your standard Segment SDK implementation collects all the data needed to power events for your Kochava dashboard. You can bundle the Kochava SDK if you want, but it’s usually not necessary.
When you use Kochava via Segment, you gain a perk that works with all your other Segment integrations: you can enable a postback that fires a
track event whenever Kochava attributes an install. This means that data is then available in any other Segment integrations that accept events, as well as your data warehouse, all without the need for any custom code.
