How Improvely works
Improvely relies on a few sources of data to build reports. The first is collected through links generated by the tool and used for ad destination URLs. The second is the Javascript library that collects traffic, user data, and conversions from your website. The last is ad cost data, which needs to be uploaded into the tool in CSV format. The CSV data and links are taken care of manually and can be done by anyone. The installation of the Javascript library, however, will require some development time, mainly to pass through the custom user data and fire conversion events with revenue data through to the tool.

When you use Segment to power Improvely there’s no need for custom code or configuration outside of your basic Segment implementation. When you call the Segment identify
method, the userId
is passed through to Improvely. Likewise, every time you use the track
method, the event and its properties are passed through to Improveley in the format it expects, which includes mapping revenue
so it appears in Improvely.
By using Segment, you can entirely skip the need to install any libraries manually or the additional development time it would have taken to figure out how to fire conversion events through to Improvely otherwise.
