How Adjust works
Adjust is used in mobile apps so you’ll have to implement it on Android and iOS separately or collect important data like events, push notification tokens, device ids, and more yourself and send to Adjust using its API. Most people use the iOS and Android SDKs to collect this data, which means you’ll need to install and configure those SDKs. Any custom events must be defined inside of Adjust first, then the event token is used to install the code hook in each of your apps.
Get more out of Adjust with Segment
Adjust requires you to pre-define custom events, but with Segment you don’t need to install new code hooks into your apps. In your Segment Adjust integration settings you can map your event token from Adjust to the Segment events you’re already recording. Segment can send all the data Adjust needs from the server so you won’t need to bundle the Adjust SDK to your apps in order to record these events or grab push notification tokens. That means you can start sending data to Adjust without re-submitting to the App Store, saving you significant time. You can also use Segment server-side libraries to send data, which is useful if your app is not built in native Android or iOS development environments.
